Hear yea all Pit Masters, Party Masters, and general membership. The June party, Cheeseburgers in Paradise, was well received and is now in the history books of BBQ. Here is how things shook out. Your Party Masters were Head Grill Master Randall Butts and his daughter Natasha, assisted by Frank Bravo, Edwin Medina, and Mike Compton.

If you think everything looked like it was running smoothly, and maybe you didn't, then think again. This was a night that if something could go wrong then it did, or it tried to, but the Party Masters seemed to pull it off with hardly a hitch, that is why they are called Party Masters.
We had promised Jimmy Buffet music all night and Dangerous Dave Bennett had put several hours of Jimmy's greatest stuff on the iPod but on arrival we discovered that the iPod did not have a compatible connection to the restaurant's sound system. No problem, the PM's just switched to good old rock and roll from the house system and everyone seemed to enjoy the evening anyway. The decorations were ordered but as sometimes happen they didn't want to accept a credit card and ship to Puerto Rico. We didn't have the Hawaiian Tropic raffle because we were very shorthanded but will have it in July. The Board of Directors that usually handles the entrance, food judging and other aspects of the evening was short handed due to some traveling, delayed flights, and other business commitments but once again the PM's were able to find help from within the ranks. I really want to say thank you to Paco Morales and Annie Jo for pitching in and helping with the food judging. The menu was Cheeseburgers and hot dogs and although I heard a couple of people remark that burgers and dogs seemed a bit uninspiring when it comes to BBQ everyone ate it up like the hadn't eaten all day long. Every dog and burger was devoured with gusto. On the other end of the spectrum I had several members tell me that nothing beats a good grilled burger or dog. I guess the proof is in the pudding and nothing left over is the proof. The food spread was good and many excellent condiments were available form sourkraut to chili, cheese, & special sauces brought in by members that wanted to share their favorite condiments with the group. A special thank you to all that brought a special condiment and a side dish. Also a special thanks to Ruth's Chris who brought a huge salad and Randall Butts who brought enough of his deviled eggs to feed everyone in the party. Randall did it last month too with his appetizer, so thanks Randall for going the extra mile to give everyone a taste of your great cooking.
I notice that some of the members never bring a side dish, what's up with that? That is standard procedure folks bring a side dish and if you can't make one buy one but don't come empty handed!
The big winners with the side dishes were; Best Salad / Colette Pollock / Asparagus & egg salad Best Appetizer / Annie Jo / Pigs-N-A Blanket Spanish style Best Side Dish / Annie Jo / Sweet Potato w/ marshmallows Best Dessert Annie Jo / Peach Cobbler w/ whipped cream
Congratulations again Annie. You're amazing! This month Annie brought 4 dishes, one in each category, and she won 3 out of 4. Talk about going the extra mile!

I am very happy to announce that we are changing the meeting location for the July meeting to Porto's Restaurant located in Isla Grande. This is a beautiful new restaurant opened only two months and they have a facility that can seat us in air-conditioned comfort. Very soon you will find a new map with the location and directions on the web page and it will be on your next party invitation. Thank you and God bless BBQ & You!
